Recording in the studio is kind of awesome and sort of terrible.

On the one hand, it’s cool and motivating to have a high quality recording of exactly what your group sounds like at that point in time. On the other, it’s miserable and disheartening to have a high quality recording of exactly what your group sounds like at that point in time.

It’s also fun to see how many different ways a take can get messed up. The brass can chip notes, the soloists can be unhappy with their solos, the brass can chip notes, Pro Tools can get the hiccups, the brass can chip notes…

So, come – join me in the next several comics for some studio time… (I don’t know why I typed that. I regret it. But, I’m not going to delete it because I think showing you my failed attempts at comedic writing is funny than the attempt itself)
